I’ve been an animal lover my whole life and I can’t remember a time when my home wasn’t filled with furry friends. To me, a pet isn’t just an animal, they’re a friend, a companion, a member of the family. I’ve had the pleasure of owning a great many pets throughout my life, and I’ve experienced the pain and grief associated with losing them. I know how difficult it is to process the emotions that come with the loss of a beloved pet, especially if the people around you don’t understand the important place they held in your life. When I was studying to be a grief counsellor, I was surprised that pet loss was barely included in the curriculum. I feel disappointed that pet loss and the grief associated with it can often be overlooked and minimized. And I wanted to do something to change that.
The death of a pet may be treated as less significant than the death of a person, and for many of us that simply isn’t our reality. When a beloved pet dies, it can be as devastating as losing a person, and the feelings of grief associated with that loss are valid. I aim to provide gentle and supportive counselling to people who have lost a pet that meant the world to them.
I will listen without judgement and help you to process the emotions that come up after the loss of a beloved pet. I work from a person-centered perspective, ensuring that counselling moves at a pace you’re comfortable with and working with gentleness and empathy.
I provide counselling services via online video chat, at flexible times to suit busy schedules. I see clients all over Australia, and you can access counselling sessions in the comfort of your own home.
